Find cars to buy

Say what you need: the cars on the market now, a target in your buy plan in your own numbers, Target watch for new cars that fit, and Cedar's offer on each one, sent when you confirm.

TL;DRAI summary

This chapter shows you how to tell Cedar, your AI assistant, what kind of cars you want to buy. Cedar then automatically searches for vehicles that match your criteria and helps you make offers on them.

A request, a target, Target watch, and an offer on a car that fits

Steps

Tell Cedar what you need. "Find me 3 SUVs in Florida by Dec 31: up to $30,000, 2021 or newer, under 50k miles." Cedar shows the cars on the market now that fit.

Cedar keeps looking, in your numbers. Under them, a card offers to add it to your quarter's buying, filled in from your message and, where you said nothing, from what you usually pay. Change anything, or Create target. A need that is already one of your open targets adds to it instead; a quarter with no goal yet gets Sequoia's draft to confirm with it.

Keep watching. The journey's playbook is Target watch: new cars that fit your targets, as they list, and when a target is filled or due. If it is off, the last card asks Keep watching this for me?

A car that fits lists. Cedar brings it to the target's conversation and your Inbox with its offer already worked out ("About 3% under the ask, as your offers usually open"). Change any number, then Review 1 offer: the sheet says what it binds you to, and Offer sends it. If the seller counters, Cedar weighs the counter against your plan and says whether to accept, counter or walk away.

What Cedar learns here

If your offers keep running about the same percent under (or over) Cedar's suggestion, it proposes once to start its suggestions there: "Start my offer suggestions about 4% lower". See Journeys.
