Journeys
What you set out to do with Cedar, start to finish: what needs you, what a car is worth and when to sell it, getting a car live, and finding cars to buy. Each one ends by asking whether Cedar should keep watching.
TL;DRAI summary
This chapter explains how to use Cypress journeys, which are guided workflows that help you complete tasks like pricing a car or finding vehicles to buy. Cedar, your AI assistant, makes recommendations, and you decide what to do.
For: Fleet managers and admins · Buyers · Cypress Managers
A journey is something you set out to do with Cedar, from the first question to the last confirm. You ask in your own words, Cedar brings the card with its recommendation already picked, you make the call, and Cypress does it. A playbook is the part Cedar keeps doing on its own afterwards. Each journey below has a short walkthrough.
What needs you
Today's three, everything else in four queues, and Work through them, one card at a time.
What a car is worth, and when to sell it
A value with how sure it is, a year of how it falls, and one answer to sell or hold.
Get a car live
What Cypress needs on one card, fixed in place, priced by your rule, live with one confirm.
Find cars to buy
Say what you need: the market now, a target in your numbers, and new cars that fit as they list.
How every journey works
Cedar recommends, you decide
Every card opens on Cedar's pick, with its reason: the price your pricing rule works out, the sale window Sequoia likes best, an offer about 3% under the ask when that is how your offers usually open. Pick something else whenever you want. Nothing changes in Cypress until you confirm on the sheet that opens; it says what will happen and whether it happens in Cypress or stays in Grove.
Keep watching this for me?
Each journey ends with the playbook that keeps it going:
| Journey | Playbook | What Cedar keeps doing |
|---|---|---|
| What needs you | Morning brief | Every morning at your brief time, the three that matter most, on your phone. |
| What a car is worth | Sell or hold watch | I look again at the cars you keep, and say when it is time to sell. |
| Get a car live | Launch follow-up | Two days after a car goes live, I say how the market is taking it. |
| Find cars to buy | Target watch | New cars that fit your targets, as they list, and when a target is filled or due. |
While a playbook is on, Cedar just says it is watching. If someone switched it off, the journey's last card asks Keep watching this for me?, and Keep watching turns it back on. Playbooks, in Grove, lists them by journey, each with its switch.
Cedar learns from your choices
Cedar keeps what it recommended next to what you chose. When you make the same different choice again and again (5 times in 30 days, or 4 of your last 5), it proposes one rule in your own numbers, once, in your own room with Cedar:
- A price you keep choosing. "You priced Toyotas at floor +8% 4 of the last 5 times; your rule says +5%." Make it my rule writes a pricing rule for that make only, so no other car's price changes.
- Offers that lean the same way. "Your offers ran about 4% under my suggestion 4 of the last 5 times." Keep it saves it as a team fact Cedar follows when it suggests an offer; remove it any time in Teach Cedar.
Not now keeps a proposal quiet for 30 days. Once anyone in your organization confirms it, nobody is asked again. Only people who may change that rule are asked: an admin or fleet manager for a pricing rule, anyone who teaches Cedar for a team fact.
The walkthroughs in Grove
Ask Cedar "What can you do?" for the What I can do card: one slide per journey with its walkthrough, an example in your organization's own numbers, and Ask Cedar, which starts it. The card also comes once on its own, after your first journey.
