Connect an app or an agent

Approve an app that asks to work in your organization, see what it and its agents can do, and disconnect it.

TL;DRAI summary

This chapter explains how to connect an external app, like a partner's system or AI, to your organization in Cypress. You must be an administrator to approve what the app can access and the AI agents it can add. You can also view and disconnect apps later.

Dive deeper:

For: Org admins · Cypress Managers acting for an organization

An app (a partner's system, an AI agent platform, or one made by Cypress) asks to work in your organization through Connect Cypress. Nothing connects until an admin of your organization approves it, on a screen that says exactly what the app will be able to do. What an app's agents may do is explained in Apps, agents and MCP.

Before you start

  • Only an Admin of the organization can connect an app. A Fleet Manager or a Billing Admin who opens the link is told to ask an admin.
  • Cypress staff connect an app for an organization while acting for it. A staff member with no organization chosen is asked to choose one first.
  • The app gives you a link to open. It comes from the app itself, not from Cypress.

Steps

Open the link the app gave you, and sign in to Cypress if you are asked to.

Read the screen. Its title names the app and your organization ("Fleet Sync wants to connect to Lone Star Fleet"), and it lists what the app will be able to do (for example Tasks (read) or Offers (read)) and, when it asks for them, the agents it will add to your team, each with what it may do. An app made by Cypress carries a Made by Cypress badge.

Some apps, AI assistants and agent platforms in particular, connect without being registered by Cypress: they name themselves by an address, or register themselves (Microsoft Copilot Studio does). Their screen carries a Not registered with Cypress badge and shows the address (desk.example.com), says Cypress has not reviewed it, and where you return after deciding. Connect one only if you know and trust that address. Such an app adds no agents: it acts as you, with what you approve.

Click Connect to approve, or Cancel to refuse. Either way you return to the app. If you approved, its agents join your team at once with the AI agent role.

See and disconnect a connected app

Open Settings → Connected apps. Each app shows who connected it and when, when it was last used, what it may do, and its agents (each On or Off, with when it last worked). An app that is not registered shows Not registered with its address.

To disconnect, click Disconnect on the app, then Disconnect again to confirm (Keep cancels). Every token the app holds ends at once and its agents are switched off. Their past work stays in your records and your activity log. To connect it again, the app asks again and an admin approves again.

Switch an MCP server off

AI agents can also reach Cypress through its MCP servers. The MCP servers card on the same page lists Cypress Operate and Cypress Intelligence, each with its address and an On / Off switch. Only an admin can switch them. A server that is off refuses every request from your organization's keys and apps, and says where to turn it back on.

Common snags

  • "Only an admin of Lone Star Fleet can connect Fleet Sync" (with your names): you are signed in without the Admin role. Ask an admin to open the same link.
  • "This connection request can't be used": the link is incomplete, names an app Cypress does not know, or asks for something that app may not ask for; or, for an app that is not registered, Cypress could not read the address it names itself by. The screen says which. Ask the app for a new link.
  • An agent is Off: its app was disconnected. Agents follow their app.
