Platform activity

Who uses Cypress and what they do: active users, funnels, buyers and sellers, organizations and people, the Cypress team, and who comes back.

TL;DRAI summary

This chapter helps you understand how people use Cypress, what actions they take, and who performs the work. This insight shows you what drives your business numbers and how your team or agents are involved.

Dive deeper:

For: Cypress Managers. This is a staff-only page; customers never see it. For sales and money (GMV, take rate, cash-basis), see Platform analytics.

Analytics → Platform activity answers the questions behind the numbers: how many people use Cypress, which side they are on, what they do from the first visit to the sale, who did the work (the customer's own people, Cypress, or an agent), and whether they come back.

The period

Every tab except Coming back and Data sources reads a period: 7, 30 or 90 days, or the quarter so far. Periods are whole UTC days ending yesterday, compared with as many days just before, so a half-day never drags an average down. The tab and the period live in the address: a link opens the same view.

Demo and showcase organizations (sandboxes) are left out everywhere, including their dealers' offers on real vehicles.

The eight tabs

Overview: active users per day (weekday average), per week and in the period, for everyone, buyers, sellers, consumers and Cypress staff; twelve weeks of weekly active buyers and sellers; who did the work; and the path from a vehicle page visit to a purchase.

Funnel: the buyer funnel (people), the seller funnel (organizations) and email reach, each step with its rate from the step before.

Buyers and Sellers: every action on the side's list (sign-ins, views, offers, counters, acceptances, uploads, listings, post-sale, completed sales) against the period before, the six post-sale stages, and the most active organizations.

Orgs and people: every customer organization, or person, active in the period or the one before. Quick filters find the ones Cypress mostly runs, the ones using their own agents, and the ones that went quiet. Select an organization to see it person by person: who opened Cypress on which days, what each did, and which Cypress managers and agents also worked on the account.

Cypress team: what Cypress managers did for each customer, Cypress's own work (reviews, pricing, post-sale checks, campaigns, CRM), the customers Cypress mostly runs, and each manager, including how they worked: by hand, in bulk or by import, with Cedar, or through their own agent. Select a manager to see their days and recent actions.

Coming back: people (or organizations) grouped by the month they were first active, and the share still active each month after. Not to be confused with Platform analytics' Retention, which follows selling organizations by GMV.

Data sources: whether PostHog, Google Analytics and Cypress's own recorders are collecting in this environment.

The counting rules

  • A person is active on a day they open Cypress signed in. Before visits were recorded (the 3.7.0 release), a person counts as active on a day they did something or viewed a vehicle. While one period is recorded and the other is not, the page shows no change for people rather than a misleading one, and says so.
  • Who did the work comes from the record of each act: the organization's own people, Cypress (a manager working through the Acting-for lens, or a staff token), an agent (an API key, an MCP agent, a connected app, or one of Cypress's rules such as auto-accept), or not recorded when nothing says. Uploads and listings name nobody on the vehicle, so they read "not recorded" unless the act left a trace.
  • Cypress staff and agents are never counted as a customer's people, even when a manager stands in as the buyer or holds a membership in the customer's organization.
  • Post-sale stages count deals, not steps. An older deal had two steps in some stages; it still counts once, with the time from the stage opening to its last step done.
  • Mostly Cypress means Cypress did more than half of the organization's recorded work. Using agents means the organization's own key, agent, app or token did some of it; Cypress's rules do not count.
  • Work for a customer at Cypress's own organization is Cypress's own work, and opening a screen is not work.
  • The AI share (Cedar plus a manager's own agent) counts only work whose "how" is recorded; earlier work reads "not recorded", never 0%.
  • Coming back counts only months that are over: the current month is shown, in italics, and left out of the totals.

Reading it elsewhere

Ask Cedar on the page: it reads the same figures (staff only). Apps and agents with a Cypress staff token read every tab through the API and MCP, from get_platform_activity_overview to get_platform_activity_coming_back: see the app's actions.
